Over a period of 16 months, Vetter UK delivered both the hard landscaping and internal tiling package on this vital new development. Works included the supply and installation of 1,600m² of Saxon paving to the hospital terraces, 800m² of Scoutmoor paving and 60m² of Scottish Pebble paving, alongside all groundworks, cycle stands, bollards and PAS rated benches with granite cladding to Eastern Road, matting to the main entrance and other small matting areas, Kinley free standing planter and waterscapes irrigation, concrete therapy ramps, including steps, and 1,710m² of internal tiling to the main entrance of the hospital and reception.

The biggest challenge faced by our team throughout construction was the coastal seaside location. The safety of our directly employed operatives was of paramount importance when installing the paving to the hospital terraces, in particular levels 4 and 10, due to the strength of the wind.

Using Domus Petrology Stone 5 Natural Tile, Vetter UK installed a total of 1,710m² of floor tiling and skirting to the ground floor main entrance of the hospital, the reception area and underground car park levels, in addition to the entrance matting. Patients and visitors are now welcomed by a bright, open and spacious entrance that brings together the various routes to the other parts of the hospital, as well as access to an underground car park giving dedicated patient and visitor parking directly beneath the new building.

The start date for the internal flooring works was pushed back in the programme due to difficulties in completing high level works, therefore our team were under pressure from the outset. Our directly employed workforce not only delivered in the time frame, but they also picked up a quality award along the way for their outstanding level of workmanship.
